We enjoyed hosting the Know Your Customer, Know Your Market workshop in Auckland last week on Tuesday, 18 March.

This interactive session focused on applying a customer-centric approach using the Jobs-To-Be-Done methodology to refine offerings and better understand market needs.

Attendees engaged in hands-on exercises, putting themselves in the shoes of the customer to explore four key elements:

  • Value chain & Jobs-To-Be-Done - Identifying the end customer, understanding how they work and their “job-to-be-done", what makes them unique and how a product can help them achieve their goal.
  • Customer Attributes & Assumptions - Identifying assumptions for validation by exploring factors that influence the customer, as well as habits, anxieties and push and pull factors to define the target market effectively.
  • Turning Assumptions into Data - Exploring where to collect both quantitative and qualitative data to validate assumptions.
  • Crafting a Compelling Value Proposition - Bringing all the elements together to create a value proposition that resonates, differentiates and substantiates your offering.

With five attendees representing four companies, the discussions were rich, insightful and collaborative. A huge thanks to Dan Hansen for his expert facilitation and to all the attendees for their engagement and contributions.
